Time Travel

I walked past one of my old homes today. It all seems so fresh still.
Grandpa. My balsam plants. The backyard where I searched endlessly for that imaginary four-leaf clover. Snowy and Snowball. The paper boats in the drain. My sister's fall which broke her arm.My musical piggy bank the shape of a house. Flossy.

If only I could.

Whimsy

I collect lamps. Like most things in my life, they're impractical but do I give a rat's arse?
Below: Moooi Rabbit Lamp, Titanic Lamp by Charles Trevelyan, Baby Elephant Lamp by SKK.

Don't Buy Me a Ballad

My favourite song of the moment: Smoke City's little ditty Numbers.
Dark, cheeky, racy. Totally senseless.

Um . Um . Four . Five . Fifteen . Quinze . Seventeen . Seven . Nine . Eight . Sete Cinco Seis . Sete Cinco Seis . Trezentos e um . Thats three hundred, three hundred and one . Three, three, three hundred and one .

Someone I never liked once told me she only listened to music that "tell a story" and proceeded to play me a track from Jerry McGuire, complete with Renee Zellweger's cringe-worthy overture "You Had Me at Hello....."

Ooouerrgghh. (Vomit.)

The Covet List

I couldn't possibly not love Balmain. While I'm certainly no slave to fashion, the past 3 seasons have left me dizzy with unabashed lust. Here are my favourite looks.

Black and Beautiful Part 1

My house is an animal farm.
The latest additions are a moose, rabbit, bear, deer, bull, ram and rhino, all taking pride of place at the dinner table.
I got these sexy black pewter shot glasses from Goody Grams. The deer is mine. Cow can be rabbit. And E can be the rhino.

What I'd Really Like to Wear

To work.

Who the hell dictated that one has to wear shirts, pants and pencil skirts to the office? Look through most employment contracts and there is usually no clause about attire. Right? So if silence means consent, then surely we are not bound by any rules, except unspoken ones.

White tank: says "effortless and timeless chic"
Jacket: says "power broker, career woman"
Leopard print: says "I'm in charge"

Then again, maybe not.

Sweet Endings

If you made ice-cream, what flavour would it be?
Mine would be honey lavender with fresh blueberries. Mmmmmmm.
I asked E what was missing this weekend, and without a split second's hesitation he said "The Daily Scoop". Spoken like my true greedy other half.

A Moonlight Fable

One of my favourite pieces of prose is HG Wells' 1909 A Moonlight Fable (aka The Beautiful Suit) which ultimately inspired the art work I recently bought for the home.

"The garden in the moonlight was very different from the garden by day; moonshine was tangled in the hedges and stretched in phantom cobwebs from spray to spray. Every flower was gleaming white or crimson black, and the air was aquiver with the thridding of small crickets and nightingales singing unseen in the depths of the trees."

Fairies Asleep In The Moonlight

"There was no darkness in the world, but only warm, mysterious shadows; and all the leaves and spikes were edged and lined with iridescent jewels of dew. The night was warmer than any night had ever been, the heavens by some miracle at once vaster and nearer, and spite of the great ivory-tinted moon that ruled the world, the sky was full of stars. "

"Die Sternthaler" The Child Gathers Star Money

"The trees cast still shadows like intricate black lace upon the wall. "

The War of The Worlds, The Martians Are Seen to be Working by Night

"Beyond the hedge he came to the duck-pond, or at least to what was the duck-pond by day. But by night it was a great bowl of silver moonshine all noisy with singing frogs, of wonderful silver moonshine twisted and clotted with strange patternings.."

Kexy, Friend of Fairies

"Soft moth!" he cried, "dear moth! And wonderful night, wonderful night of the world! Do you think my clothes are beautiful, dear moth? As beautiful as your scales and all this silver vesture of the earth and sky?"

They will be Mine

Brilliant young Brit designer Dominic Jones and his wonderfully dangerous jewellery. I don't think they're available outside the UK yet, a shame...but have a look at his range of vampiric and fetishistic jewellery. A must-have for perfecting the glunge look.

All vampires are handsome

Still on the topic of 30 Days, look at just how flawless the make-up is. Here's the very debonair Danny Huston as vamp lord Marlow.
He looks very much like my late paternal grandfather.

If light is life, who is the sun in your universe? (inspired)

One of my favourite films of all time is 30 Days of Night by David Slade about an Alaskan town plunged into complete darkness for 30 days each year. They're ravaged by a gang of bloodthirsty vampires.
I always ask myself if we went black for a month - no sun- would I stay or would I leave? I choose to stay.

Shuddup

Let me count the ways to shut you up

1. stare blankly back, say nothing
2. growl..
3. stick my fingers up your nostrils

Beckoning Creatures

Ever bought a dress for its name?

I chanced upon this beauty last night and had to have it. Turns out it's the last one. Ha!
It's from PlumPrettySugar an etsy shop.
