E and I spent the lead up to All Hallow's Eve in the company of werewolves and vampires. I'm most completely obsessed with John Landis' 1981 masterpiece An American Werewolf In London about 2 American students who encountered said monster during the deep of winter in the English moors. It scared the bejesus out of me when I was little and in some ways it still does.

I can't wait to hit the moors myself - we're planning to go up North this time, perhaps to Wales, where the scenes were actually filmed.

I've always wanted a big Halloween party at home. However when the day finally arrived yesterday, I simply wasn't in the mood.
So here's our little homage anyway to my favourite day of the year, apart from Xmas eve.

The Faraway Tree

My childhood was made up of butterfly chases, tadpole hunting and tree climbing, no doubt due to a healthy diet of Enid Blyton. 

A favourite of mine is the Faraway Tree series.
